Little Georgia

No strangers to the road, Australian folk-rock duo Little Georgia have spent the last 4 years touring relentlessly and sharing their music around the globe. Known for their powerful live performances, collaborators Justin Carter and Ashleigh Mannix deliver beautiful harmonies and compelling lyrics amongst a sea of acoustic story telling and crazed out electric jams.

In November 2018 the duo released their debut studio album All The While, recorded and produced by Grammy Award winning producer Nick DiDia (Powderfinger, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam) at La Cueva Recording Byron Bay, along with good friends and band mates Jimmy Straayer (Bass) and Oscar Henfrey (Drums).

“Each morning we would arrive at the studio, have a good ole laugh and then start playing music together… we really feel that Nick did an amazing job of capturing the honesty in those performances” – Justin Carter.

From the homely harmonica driven “Yellow Cup”to the powerful anthem “Stoned”, All The While has been crafted in a way that delivers one truthful performance after another.

Despite the relatively short amount of time that Carter and Mannix have been performing together, both have their own stories and have spent years honing their crafts.

Ashleigh began her musical career performing as a solo musician, singing and playing guitar from the age of 15. From humble beginnings at open mic nights in Canberra she moved on to supporting a lesser known Ed Sheeran at The Slaughtered Lamb in London, to showcasing at Folk Alliance in Memphis TN and playing solo sets at Blues Fest Byron Bay and Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

Justin began his musical career by taking out the Uprising Artist Award at the 2006 Apollo Bay Music Festival and continued on to tour extensively throughout Australia and Japan as part of surf rock band CarterRollins, including a support tour with Donovan Frankenreiter, performances at Greenroom Festival, and sell out shows on a headline tour of Japan in celebration of their album ‘Onjuko Sun’.

A friendship formed over time as the pair regularly crossed paths touring Australia’s East Coast, but it was a chance duet at an open mic night on Sydney’s Northern Beaches that led to the birth of Little Georgia. Built on the foundations of a strong work ethic, a passion for music, and a deep friendship, the pair haven’t stopped since. Little Georgia have toured extensively through out Australia, Japan and North America including support shows and tours with Mia Dyson, Jamestown Revival (USA) The Record Company (USA) and Ryan Bingham (USA); as well as appearances at Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festivals, Nannup Music Festival, and most recently a third consecutive year performing at Blues Fest Byron Bay.
